Living, Working and Retire In Playa Del Carmen

I had the pleasure of speaking with Jeff about his experience living and being semi retired in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

Jeff’s Condo has a beautifully landscaped pool and park area

Jeff is originally from New York, and traveled regularly to his favorite beach in Quintana Roo; Playa Del Carmen. One day as he was traveling through, he saw a sign that said Xcaret and thought to himself “I could really live here.” Fast forward a few years and he has made his dreams a reality of being able to live in Paradise.

During the interview he covered:

  • Why he chose this area
  • How his family feels about him living in Mexico
  • Importing his exotic bird
  • How he bought his property
  • What a fideicomiso is and why you’d need one
  • How he plans to get permanent residency
  • Why he thinks he’ll never move back to The U.S.

He shared a lot of great information about his life in Playa del Carmen, and I think it’s an excellent interview for anyone whose considering the beaches in Quintana Roo or Playa Del Carmen specifically. Although a lot of the information he shared applied to all of Mexico.

Felicidades Mariana por tu entrevista! El Señor Jeff también es muy agradable. Que gusto que nos dió tan detallado vistaso a su experiencia. I, too like you grew up spending my summers in and around Guadalajara. However, I was born in LA. I am an interpreter for my local school district in Arizona. My family and I continue to visit Los Altos de Jalisco since my Dad has made the move to the family’s rancho. I know this interview will be very helpful for those desiring to retire to beautiful Mexico.
